What is your purpose?
Our purpose is to develop and maintain an interactive educational recreational
facility for the children, families and educators in our community while
showcasing the heritage of the Paso Robles Volunteer Firefighters.
Why a children’s museum?
There are so many reasons “why a children’s museum”. In our changing environment
of electronic stimuli, busy parents and educational cut backs, the public and
private sectors have a responsibility to take an active role in educational
projects for our children. Children’s museums provide an educational avenue for
parents and children to interact with each other. They are places that cultivate
and enrich the soil for lifelong learning. These features will, in turn, help to
develop responsible, intelligent adults for our future.
What are some of the exhibits that will be in the museum?
Our main objective is to develop exhibits and activities that promote “hands on”
learning experiences that are fun and memorable. Our design chair has literally
traveled the world observing the most popular exhibits in Children’s Museums to
children. He and his committee have taken the best of the best and have adapted
them to fit in our museum.
Will there be programs for the underserved children in our
community?
Most definitely. We will have programs and special days for the lower income
youth groups in our community. We have already teamed up with the Boys and Girls
Club to help with our groundbreaking ceremony. We plan to offer special days
free of charge for these groups and scholarships for children whose families
cannot afford membership.
What is your agreement with the city?
The lease agreement between the board and the City, states that the board will
be given a $1 a year renewable lease for 30 years. Any further financial
responsibility is that of the board.
How can I get involved in the Children’s Museum?
