About the Museum
To engage children in a joyful
learn-through-play environment and inspire educational curiosity while honoring the heritage of our volunteer firefighters.
Our Mission
Our History
Tom Martin had a dream to create a place where children could learn through play in a safe and interactive environment. With the help of civic leaders, the community, and countless volunteers, Tom’s vision came to life in 2003 when The Children’s Museum at the Paso Robles Volunteer Firehouse was established as a public charity. The Museum opened its doors to the community at the restored and repurposed firehouse in November of 2007. Located in the town's old volunteer firehouse, our museum blends the charm of the past with the excitement of hands-on discovery.
Step into our historic building and let your child's adventure begin in a place where history ignites the imagination and every visit offers a new experience. The Paso Robles Children's Museum—where the past fuels the future of fun and education.
Powered By The Sun
Thanks to A.M. Sun Solar, a Paso Robles-based solar installation company, the museum installed a 15.2 kW clean solar energy system, which consists of 44 solar panels. The system offsets 100 percent of the museum's electricity usage.
We know how important renewable energy is and we look forward to using our solar system to help educate the next generation.
“Play is the highest form of research.”
— Albert Einstein
The science of brain development is providing concrete evidence that there is real power in play. While often dismissed as “just fun,” play is the vital activity that children use to learn about and interact with their world.
